Our children continue to work towards achieving the RSPB Wild Challenge Gold award. This week we have submitted further evidence to secure the Silver accolade. Year 6 have been hunting for invertebrates and other wildlife around the school grounds, the highlight being a newt and Year 4 recently completed a Minibeast Survey with a focus on micro-habitats. Year 2 spent a whole week looking at birds. The children made bird homes, bird feeders and some spent time taking part in the Big Garden Birdwatch.
These enrichment activities not only increase the children’s Science Capital but are also put forward as evidence in being recognised for the fantastic opportunities we offer at Mortimer. Gold is within reach!
