The KS2 children had a fantastic time this morning when they watched a hilarious pantomime in our own school. Funded by the PTA, this was a lovely treat for the children and the children all recognised the story of Aladdin.
Well done Year 5, who collected money to buy pyjamas for poorly patients at Christmas. In total 17 sets of pyjamas were purchased for The Delerium and Dementia Outreach Team.
The scheme aims to ‘spoil’ an older person, who has no loved ones or friends, and make them too feel special at Christmas, where they will receive a wrapped gift with new nightdress or pyjamas on Christmas morning.
Well done Year Five for their huge effort and thank you to the Mrs Richardson for organising this project with the children.
On Friday 6th December, Year 3 took part in an Egyptian day with Egyptologists and historians from Durham University. Throughout the day, the children took part in a range of activities that allowed them to delve into the past and ask questions about their findings. They investigated x-rays of Egyptian (and Roman) mummies, created an offering table for the afterlife, got hands-on to identify artifacts and even took part in a ‘weighing of the heart’ ceremony, using drama to decide if a Pharaoh should be allowed to transcend to the afterlife.
Year 2 children recently visited Beamish as part of their history topic.
Here are a few photos from the day.
Here are a few photos from when Year 4 visited Jarrow Hall as part of their history topic on The Anglo Saxons and their geography topic on settlements.
The whole school were envious this morning when when Year 6 started the day with an energetic conga around the school. Never too old for pass the parcel or a competitive game of musical chairs, the children had a fantastic day celebrating.
Great fun was had at the Reception Christmas party today. Check out all the smiles.
Thank you to all who helped us support Save The Children’s Christmas Jumper Day, 2019. It was a great success and the children looked fantastic.
We would like to invite children to swap their school jumper/cardigan and wear their Christmas jumper again on the last day of term if they wish to.
We have only just achieved the Bronze award but our children have been busy at home completing various activities such as the Tree Champion Challenge which have led us to very quickly achieving the Silver award.
