By A Stelling26th March 2017

Check out some of our Y6 children in action during activity week. We had great fun doing a wide variety of activities including orienteering at Cornthwaite Park, rock climbing, athletics, bowling, problem solving and swimming. We even made time for extra football, netball, cricket, trampolining, circuit training, athletics and much much more!

Thurston Update

By A Stelling22nd March 2017

Some of our Y6 children are currently on a residential trip to Thurston Outdoor Education Centre. Just to update all parents and carers that they have had a ‘little snow’ but everyone is having an amazing time and are safe and well!

The weather hasn’t dampened spirits and activities have been adapted accordingly to suit the weather.

Y1 Writing

By A Stelling16th March 2017

Our Y1 children have enjoyed learning about the Great Fire of London. They had a fantastic time writing just like Samuel Pepys himself, with a quill and ink.

A Roman Invasion

By A Stelling16th March 2017

Year 3 recently spent a fabulous day learning about life in Roman times. They discovered unusual facts about Roman medicine and surgery and tried some typical Roman food  – not to everyone’s taste.

They are now looking forward to their trip to Segedunum on April 5th.

Netball Success!

By A Stelling19th February 2017

Congratulations to both of our netball squads and their coach Miss Anderson.

On Friday both teams competed at Temple Park in a tournament against other schools from South Tyneside.

On Friday our A team came first and automatically qualify to represent South Tyneside in the Blue Flames North East finals on Thursday 30th March. The b team came second so will play on play offs (date tbc) to see if they can also get through.

Great work and dedication from all involved. We have a very strong netball club who have continually trained hard during the winter months. Only a number of children were able to participate on Friday however all children who attend practices were part of making these victories. Well done!

Y4 Viking Day

By A Stelling13th February 2017

The Vikings truly came to life for our Y4 children on Friday when they were visited by two ‘real’ Vikings for the day.

They were taught how to make real Viking style food, played games, had hands on experience with Viking artefacts and much, much more.

The children were invited to dress for the occasion and in school they had made shields and broaches ready for the day.

A great day was had by all!

NSPCC Number Day

By A Ogilvie3rd February 2017

A great day has been had in school with all year groups having fun with number work but making money for the NSPCC.

All children were invited to wear a ‘splash of green’ with their uniform and completed mathematical challenges in their year groups. These tasks ranged from class quizzes with our younger children to ‘Robot Wars’ with our older children.

A great way to make money for a very worthy charity.
