We held an assembly and told all the children about Change 4 Life. We explained that it was a government initiative that promoted healthy lifestyles. We gave the children a brief overview of all the initiatives that our school does both inside and outside the curriculum connected to physical activity and healthy eating. During the assembly, the children were reminded about some of the work our Champions did last year. This included a Fun Club which our Year 4 children participated in during the Summer term and a games fortnight that all our our Year 3 children enjoyed during lunchtime. The children seemed excited that these clubs were going to be run again this year.
As well as the above, we have been working with our lunchtime supervisory staff promoting physical activity and well-being among the children. Our KS1 and KS2 children have been provided with a large selection of equipment to use during their break times. The Young Sport Leaders as well as ourselves have planned a range of activities that the children can engage in during play times.
It’s been a very busy term, here is just a snippet of the fun we have been having! Click on the links below to see even more pictures.
Our children and staff looked very festive this morning as they came together for the final assembly of 2016.
It was a special occasion for one of our members of staff, who is sadly retiring today too. Children from each year group presented Mr McGuigan with cards. He has been teaching at Mortimer Primary School for 28 years and will be very much missed from our teaching staff.
Our infant and foundation children had a special visitor today to end the term. Santa came to visit and brought each child a small present to start the festive season.
Here are some pictures of our Y2 children enjoying their Christmas party.
