21.9.20 – Year 5

21st September 2020Mr Bennett

21.9.20

Year 5 Update

Dear Parents and Carers,

Further to our announcement that there has been a confirmed case of COVID-19 within the school, we need to update you with the following information.

We have carried out a full risk assessment having spoken to Public Health and Local Authority advisors.

The Year 5 children have not been identified as in close contact and therefore they do not need to make any change to their usual routine, including school attendance.

We therefore will reopen school to Year 5 pupils from Tuesday 22nd September. This allows a deep clean to take place across the classrooms as a precaution today. We thank you for your cooperation and keeping your children off school.

The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are recent onset of a new continuous cough and/or a high temperature and/or a loss of, or change in, normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia). If your child, or anyone in your household, develops these symptoms, your whole household must remain at home and not go to work, school or public areas. You should arrange testing for the person who has developed symptoms. When the result is known further advice will be available.

Testing can be arranged by calling 119 or via the NHS website: nhs.uk/coronavirus

How to stop COVID-19 spreading

There are things we can all do to help reduce the risk of you and anyone you live with getting ill with COVID-19:

  • wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
  • use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
  • wash your hands as soon as you get home
  • cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
  • put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards

Further information

Further information is available at nhs.uk/coronavirus

Yours sincerely

Important Update – 20.9.20

20th September 2020Mr Bennett
Dear Parents and Carers,
Please be advised that one of our lunchtime staff has a confirmed case of COVID-19.
After notification from the staff member today, we have made the difficult but important decision to keep Year 5 pupils off school tomorrow (Monday 21st September). This includes all year 5 classes: 5PM, 5HA and 5AM.
This decision has been made in order to keep our school community safe. Once school reopens in the morning, we will be able to liaise fully with Public Health and the Local Authority team then determine the right course of action.
We will notify you again tomorrow as soon as we can, indicating whether your child can return to school on Tuesday, or whether they need to self-isolate for 14 days. Please do bear with us, and we will have more information for you asap, when we hope that the majority of Year 5 pupils can return on Tuesday. All other year groups remain unaffected.
My sincere apologies for the Sunday notice, but we were keen let parents know promptly.

10.9.20 Update

10th September 2020Mr Bennett

10.9.20 Update

Just to keep you all informed.
Parent Pay & Lunch Ordering
Lunch orders must be completed on Parent Pay by Wednesday 10pm of the previous week. If orders are not placed, then a limited food option will be available to those children on the day. This then allows all ordered lunch options to be delivered to the children who have booked a meal regardless of the time they eat.
Our office staff have worked diligently during this week to help everyone who has had a query and will continue to do so.
Lunch times
To enable all pupils to safely have their lunch we have changed lunch times.
  • Nursery – 11:40-12:40
  • Reception – 11:30-12:40
  • KS1 – 11:30-12:40
  • KS2 – 12:10-13:20
All children have at least 30 minutes to eat their lunch during their break.
Safety at the beginning and end of the school day
We are aware that the paths are busy as children are coming to and from school. This is causing some people to walk on the road. This can be helped by entering on the path school side and then crossing over to leave on the opposite side. Our car park remains open to help parents but we ask that extra care is taken by all when entering and leaving the school area. Allow extra time should be allowed to aid your journeys.
Thank you for your continuing support

7.9.20 1st Day Back

7th September 2020Mr Bennett

7.9.20 1st Day Back

Wow…and just like that the first day was over!
All of the children have been stars and the staff amazing. Yes things are a little different, but everyone has coped brilliantly! Tears from the start of the day quickly turned into smiles. I think a few will sleep well tonight.
Just a few things from today:
  • Please remember that children can be dropped off between 8:30 and 8:50. It was very busy at 8:30 today.
  • KS1 Yard entry – As a queue may form, please can all other parents cross over the road to the carpark side when leaving or coming to drop off in the KS2 Yard.
  • KS2 Yard entry: We understand today, but we must ask parents not to come up to the gates and stay at the bottom of the stairs when children are entering
  • Please continue to social distance when on site.
Thank you for your support! See you tomorrow!

6.9.20 And tomorrow we return…

March 20th feels like such a long time ago but tomorrow we reopen to all pupils. Yes, things will be different but our staff are ready.
Please double check the timings. We know this is going to be tricky but we can work together to keep everyone as safe as possible whilst getting everyone in and out of school smoothly.
  • I’m still waiting on confirmation of the gas being fixed, but all children will be fed.
  • If you were unable to order lunches please get in touch with the office via email or phone. You will need credit on your Parent Pay account.
  • Please no big backpacks or stationary from home.
See you soon.

4.9.20 Important Update

4th September 2020Mr Bennett

4.9.20 Important Update

I need to inform you that there is currently an issue with the gas supply to the school.
We are waiting on engineers to fix this issue. This may be sorted this afternoon or Monday morning.
If the issue is not resolved in good time for Monday then we will be unable to offer a hot meal for lunch. Lunch will still be provided if you have ordered a school dinner, but it will be a cold option.
Thanks for your understanding and I will share updates as I have them.
