Parents’ Evening – 30.9.21
Dear Parents/Carers,

Good news! Parents Evening just got a whole lot easier because you can now book your appointments online. We have two evenings Monday 11th and 18th October.

We will send a link to your mobile phone or email address which will take you to our online booking system to select a time convenient for you.

Invites will be sent: Friday 1st October 2021 @ 4:00pm

Please follow these simple steps to book your slot:

  1. Click the link that you receive through text and/or email to take you to the confirmation page. You will need internet access to do this.
  2. Enter your child’s first name to continue. If you have more than one child, any of their first names will work.
  3. Next you will be taken to the booking page. This will show your children alongside all of the teachers that you can book in with.
  4. Click ‘Please Choose’ to be shown a list of available times that you can click to book.
  5. After you have entered any notes, please click ‘Book this Slot’ to complete your booking. When the button has turned green you know your booking has been made.
  6. At any time before the Parents Evening, you can click the link on your phone or email again to check your booking time or even un-book by clicking the green booked button.

Make sure you book your parents evening ASAP to ensure you get the best time for you.

You can see the full parent guide here https://gb15.behaviourwatch.co.uk/public/gb/user_manuals/parents_evening/parent_guide.pdf

Please note:

The booking will come through to the main contact that we have for each child. Only one parent will receive the link. This is (generally) the person who receives our text communications and down as contact 1. You will receive a text and email if we have both of these pieces of information from you.

Year 1 COVID Warn & Inform – 30.9.21

30th September 2021Mr Bennett
Mortimer Primary School
Excellence for all
Year 1 COVID Warn & Inform – 30.9.21
Dear Parents,

We have been advised that there has been a confirmed case of COVID-19 within year 1 Miss Reid’s class (1KR). NHS test and trace have been in contact with individuals who have been identified as a close contact to let them know if they are legally required to self-isolate, and to provide further advice.

The school remains open and your child should continue to attend as normal if they remain well. Please be reassured that for most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness.

What to do if your child develops symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) or tests positive for COVID-19

The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are recent onset of:

  • new continuous cough and/or
  • high temperature and/or
  • a loss of, or change in, normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)

If your child does develop symptoms, they should get a PCR test and remain at home at least until the result is known. Get a free PCR test to check if you have coronavirus (COVID-19) – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk). if positive, the child should isolate until at least 10 days after their symptoms appeared.

If you are concerned about your child’s symptoms, you can seek advice from NHS 111 at https://111.nhs.uk/ or by phoning 111.

If your child has a positive test result but does not have symptoms they should stay at home and self-isolate for 10 days from the date the positive test was taken. This isolation period will be extended if they go on to develop symptoms by counting 10 full days from the day following their symptom onset

Instructions for people who live in the same household as someone with COVID-19

From 16 August, you will not be required to self-isolate if you are a contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 and any of the following apply:

  • you are fully vaccinated (with an MHRA approved COVID-19 vaccine in the UK, and at least 14 days have passed since you received the vaccine.
  • you are below the age of 18 years 6 months
  • you have taken part in or are currently part of an approved COVID-19 vaccine trial
  • you are not able to get vaccinated for medical reasons

NHS Test and Trace will contact you to let you know that you have been identified as a contact and check whether you are legally required to self-isolate. Even if you do not have symptoms, you will be advised to have a PCR test as soon as possible.

Even if you are vaccinated, you can still be infected with COVID-19 and pass it on to others. If you are identified as a contact of someone with COVID-19 but you are not required to self-isolate, you can help protect others by

  • limiting close contact with other people outside your household, especially in enclosed spaces
  • wearing a face covering in enclosed spaces and where you are unable to maintain social distancing
  • limiting contact with anyone who is clinically extremely vulnerable
  • taking part in regular LFD testing

You should follow this advice while the person in your household with COVID-19 is self-isolating. Those who are clinically extremely vulnerable should be supported to minimise their contact with other people in the household during this period, regardless of whether others have symptoms or not.

You may be eligible for a Test and Trace Support Payment or other help.  Please visit https://www.southtyneside.gov.uk/article/70840/Test-and-Trace-Support-Payment for more details.

Cauliflower Christmas Project

17th September 2021Mr Bennett

Dear Parents/Carers

This term, Reception-Y6 have decided to participate in the ‘Cauliflower Christmas Project’.  The project aims to encourage pupils’ creativity and design skills whilst also raising funds for our school.

Your child has been creating his/her own design for a Christmas card that can be professionally printed to produce a pack of 12 cards with envelopes.  There is also the option of ordering other products such as gift labels and mugs.  Not only would it be very exciting for your child to see his/her work as a finished printed product, the cards themselves are great for sending a more personal greeting to friends and family at Christmas!

Card packs can be ordered on https://xmas.cauliflowergroup.co.uk using your child’s unique code and the school code (found in your child’s artwork pack).  You will need to register for an account with the group in order to do this.  You must then complete the paper order form with your child’s artwork.  Please complete this clearly as this information will be used on the back of your child’s cards.  You can share your child’s unique code with others in your family if they want to place online orders with their design.  Online orders must be completed and artwork returned to each child’s class teacher to school by 18th October.

Yours sincerely

Mrs G. Cunningham

Head Teacher
