Well done to 16 of our year 3 and 4 pupils, who represented our school at the South Tyneside School Sport Network Y3/4 Countdown Cricket Festival 2022.
We took a Y3 team and a Y4 team, both were very strong on the day!
The Y3 team won three out of four of their matches. Y4 won all four of their matches.
The overall winner for the tournament was our Y4 team with a huge 394 runs over the four matches on the day.
Lots of talented cricketers in both teams, who we hope may go on to represent our school in years to come. As always our pupils were fantastic ambassadors for our school and displayed fantastic sportsmanship and manners.
Well done!
On Friday a group of Y4 children took part in a tennis competition at Boldon Lawn Tennis Centre. They faced a very tough competition against East Boldon Juniors.
It was a very close call, sadly they did not come out victors on the day, but the pupils had a great time and as always we were so proud with their excellent attitude, commitment and effort.
Well done Y4!
Who knows, one day we may one day see some of these athletes at Wimbledon!

South of Tyne Swimming Finals – Mortimer was the winning school held at Haven Point recently. Eleven schools from South Tyneside and Gateshead competed in the event as well as winning overall team gold. Mortimer was placed first in the following races: Girls’ Freestyle, Backstroke, Medley and Freestyle Relay. The children were also placed first in the mixed cannon. They also added a silver and eight bronze medals to their haul making a grand total of 36 medals won. This was an outstanding achievement by the children.

Some of our Year 2 children helped plant our Minibeast area. Year 2 are learning all about plants this term and they were the perfect helpers due to their knowledge. They told Mrs Mackay and Mr Maltby all about what plants need to grow and they even talked about how the worms in the soil told us that the area was a good place to plant in.
What a fantastic World Book Day we all had yesterday! We would like to say an enormous thank you for putting so much effort into your costumes – there were some amazing outfits! It was wonderful to see everyone getting involved and there were some great activities going on around school too. From Mad Hatter tea parties to creating book characters out of vegetables, it is safe to say that a lot of fun was had by all. Our pupils have also had the chance to visit our Scholastic book fair. Although it is operating a little differently this year, we are pleased that so many children have enjoyed browsing the books and we have already had lots of orders brought back to school. If you would like to order any books for your child, please pay via the link on the wishlist sheet (you do not need to input the name of the book), and ensure the wishlists are returned by Monday 7th March with the relevant reference number. Thank you for your support.
Year 1 had a fantastic festive day out at Preston Park! We even got to feed Santa’s reindeer.
On the last day of term children are invited to swap their school jumper for their Christmas jumper once more.
Pupils in Key Stage 2 (Year 3 to Year 6) are invited to bring a toy on Friday from home. Please do not send any electrical devices which are able to communicate, take photos or capture videos such as phones and tablets.
We would encourage board games or toys where people can play together.
Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 do not need to bring any toys as there are many in their areas for them to play with.
Please note we can not take responsible for any loss or damage. All toys must be labelled and in a bag to carry home.
