Thank you for helping us to support Children in Need today. The children enjoyed wearing their spots for Pudsey and a great day was had by all.
As part of their history topic on The Victorians, Year 2 created a toy museum for Year 3 children to come and visit.
Science club has got off to a great start with ten budding Year 2 scientists. Week one saw the children engaging in a ‘Magic Ball’ activity and week two involved making a laughing chicken. The children work enthusiastically during the club and the staff are so impressed with their scientific knowledge. All of the children are currently growing an alligator at home with the help of their parents. We will all look forward to the next session.
Please find below a selection of pictures taken at the recent Y2 trip to Beamish and a number of photos from Y2KB class assembly.
Our Y6 children this term are enjoying learning about clay and are creating hedgehogs. Here is Y6AS modelling their creations, they will be placed in a kiln to dry and then painted and glazed before they make their way home.
Mortimer Primary School commemorated Armistice Day by taking part in a service of Remembrance at West Park and our house captains laid a wreath on behalf of our school. All of our staff and pupils observed a minutes silence at school.
Our children in Year 5 were very keen this year on taking on the role of ‘school buddy.’ This is part of our pupil leadership package that our school believes is extremely important. The buddies work with Reception through to Year 4 helping and playing with the younger children.
At Mortimer we believe the members of the School Council have a very important role in helping to improve the school. It is seen as an important pupil voice that complements the more formal management structure in the school. Indeed several initiatives and suggestions are firmly embedded as school policy. The new school council for 2018 are hoping to build on and develop this legacy.
