Nursery enjoyed talking to some very special visitors today, who were constructing a new hut for their outdoor area.
There was lots of great talk between the workmen and the children about the tools they were using and how to stay safe when building.
Science club started this week with 10 Year 2 budding scientists. Their first task is to grow an alligator at home and measure its growth daily and they also enjoyed experimenting with a magic ball! The children are looking forward to the next session.
The Year 4 Design Club has had a terrific start! They made posters to present to the governors and Mr Seagrove, which helped them to acquire a business loan of £250. The club plan to use this money to buy materials for their projects. They will make products to sell at the Christmas, Easter and Summer Fayres, in order to pay the loan back. They have already started making these lovely decorative baubles to sell at the Christmas Fayre. In addition, the club have written letters to various businesses to ask if they would be willing to donate materials to the club.
A big thank you all our students and their families this week for supporting our annual book week. This is a designated week where each year group celebrates a particular author and dedicates cross curricular activities to the text.
Once again our pupils have been amazing and the work they have produced outstanding. From our youngest children in nursery reading and exploring traditional tales to our oldest children creating detailed writing using the work of Michael Morpurgo as a stimulus. Our Y2 children enjoyed writing their own additional chapters for a Jill Murphy book and Y4 became authors and wrote Happy Family books, which they delivered and shared, for some of our younger children. The school has been a buzz of excitement!
As a special treat this year, Y3 enjoyed working with local theatre company Artefact and completed a workshop inspired by a play KS2 had the pleasure of watching.
As always, we concluded our week with our fancy dress day. Every year the costumes become more creative and imaginative. We thank all of the parents and carers who help to bring the children’s ideas to life. Click here to see some of the fun we had!
