Dear parents/carers,

Where have the last 3 weeks gone?

School life is picking up quickly and now singing is filling our hall again! There is plenty to tell you about…

  1. School car park
  2. Parents’ Evening Booking
  3. Facebook changes
  4. Reading Newsletter
  5. Harvest Festival
  6. Dates for the Diary
  7. Year 6 SATs 2022
  8. Wild Challenge

  1. School car park

We are still working through a few teething troubles and are continuing the closure of the car park. Please spare a few minutes to give your views on the car park via our questionnaire https://forms.gle/7sTenoybPR2jCQ4k8 The car park will remain closed until we can assess the results of the questionnaire.

  1. Parents’ Evening Booking

For our October parent meetings (Mon 11th & Mon 18th October) parents will be able to book their appointment times with their child’s class teacher. A link will be sent out via email and text. Parents will then be able to decide on the time and day they see the class teacher. All appointments will take place in school face to face. Further info will follow early next week.

  1. Facebook changes

As a school we moving away from our closed Facebook group onto an open Facebook page. Please like the new page https://www.facebook.com/Mortimer-Primary-School-273525164461401

  1. Reading Newsletter

Mrs Douglas has been busy again…check out the very first reading newsletter (As attached) and all that is happening.

Also check out our 1st Reading Champions of the year! https://mortimerprimary.co.uk/reading-champions/

  1. Harvest Festival

We will be holding the Harvest Festival for our children in the Infant and Junior classes on the morning of Thursday 7th October.

Following the service food parcels, made up from Harvest donations which are displayed at the Harvest Festival, will be distributed to local senior citizens, and local food banks and charities.

We hope that each child in our Nursery and Infant classes (EYFS/KS1) could bring in a small quantity of either FRESH PRODUCE (fruit, vegetables, etc) or TINNED OR PACKET PRODUCE.  It would be very helpful if these gifts were brought into school on Monday 4th, Tuesday 5th or Wednesday 6th.

Our junior children (KS2) will be asked to make a donation, proceeds of which will be used to help a good cause overseas. It would be very helpful if these donations were brought into school on Monday 4th, Tuesday 5th or Wednesday 6th.

Reading Champions!

24th September 2021Mr Bennett

A huge congratulations to our first Reading Champions of the academic year! These children were chosen by their class teachers for demonstrating outstanding effort in their reading this month. Each child was given a bookmark and one very lucky individual won the prize draw, taking home a £10 voucher to spend on books of their choice. A massive well done to all of our Reading Champions – what a fabulous start to the year!

Cauliflower Christmas Project

17th September 2021Mr Bennett

Dear Parents/Carers

This term, Reception-Y6 have decided to participate in the ‘Cauliflower Christmas Project’.  The project aims to encourage pupils’ creativity and design skills whilst also raising funds for our school.

Your child has been creating his/her own design for a Christmas card that can be professionally printed to produce a pack of 12 cards with envelopes.  There is also the option of ordering other products such as gift labels and mugs.  Not only would it be very exciting for your child to see his/her work as a finished printed product, the cards themselves are great for sending a more personal greeting to friends and family at Christmas!

Card packs can be ordered on https://xmas.cauliflowergroup.co.uk using your child’s unique code and the school code (found in your child’s artwork pack).  You will need to register for an account with the group in order to do this.  You must then complete the paper order form with your child’s artwork.  Please complete this clearly as this information will be used on the back of your child’s cards.  You can share your child’s unique code with others in your family if they want to place online orders with their design.  Online orders must be completed and artwork returned to each child’s class teacher to school by 18th October.

Yours sincerely

Mrs G. Cunningham
