Well done to our Y2 ocarina club, they put on a fabulous concert for parents and visitors this morning.
If you missed it you can catch a clip here.
As you already know from the newsletter, our Y5/6 children will be presenting a musical version of the story of the Pied Piper of Hamelin as their end of year show. there will be two performances of ‘Rats!’, Monday 4th July and Tuesday 5th July, both starting at 6:30pm and lasting approximately an hour.
All children will be offered two tickets, priced £1 each and these will be issued at either both for the same performance, or one for each night. We will keep a list of requests for extra tickets, should any become available once everyone has had the chance to take up their allocation. Tickets will be on sale from next week, please send money to your child’s teacher, not the school office.
Please note that we respectfully ask that the children attend BOTH performances, as I am sure you realise that the success of the show depends on the a high level of attendance. For past productions we have always found that clubs and groups are very helpful releasing children from attending as a one off, once they know it is for a school commitment. We would be very grateful if you could try to ensure your children are with us on both evenings.
Our Y5/6 children have a very important role to play as the chorus of ‘Rats!’ and we would like to invite them to dress in ‘punk attire’ for the two performance. We do not expect parents to buy new clothes for the show; this is a perfect opportunity to upcycle old clothes.
We have discussed ideas with the children at school but here are a few examples: –
Have fun designing your costume, we do not want this to be extra work or extra cost to parents!
Children have been asked to arrive at 6:15pm each night, dressed ready for the performance. We anticipate finishing at approximately 7:30 pm and ask that all children go home with an adult after the performance.
Thank you very much, we look forward to seeing you on July 4th or 5th.

Well done to our Y5 dancers, who took part in the South Tyneside Dance Festival last night. They have practiced for weeks for the event with Miss Folan and Miss Bays. They performed with energy and enthusiasm, we are very proud of you all.
Reception children had a fabulous morning when Party Animals came to visit!
The children were able to handle rabbits, snakes, stick insects and much much more. Great fun was had by all!
Well done to Y4 for completing the Fitness Challenge! For the last half term children and staff have been monitoring their steps and increasing their general activity. A brilliant end to the project was held at Temple Park on Friday when children from all over South Tyneside took part in fun activities to encourage them to keep moving.
Some of our reception children enjoyed a fantastic morning visiting our local hospital this morning. This is part of their topic about ‘People who help us’. (more…)

Well done to our Y5/Y6 cricketers and netballers!
Our A team cricketers came first in a competition on Monday and will now go on to represent South Tyneside at the North of England Championships in July.
Our A and B team netballers played today in the final of the league. They have been competing weekly since Christmas and both qualified to play in the final tournament held today at Temple Park. The A team triumphantly won the league.
Well done to all our girls and boys who have competed this week. All these individuals, plus the other children on the team who were unable to play in the finals, work hard with their teachers on lunch times and after school to perfect their skills and tactics.
We are always very impressed by your achievements, but your behaviour, excellent sportsmanship and attitude when representing the school is second to none. Great work! (more…)
